The Poet
The Poet
By Rich Reith
A storefront window in afternoon sun
Relecting the wonders of the world around
Images of beauty and ones that stun
Poignant still-lifes without a sound
A prism is a prism, a piece of glass
Refracting into rainbows the light it sees
Reality with all its sharp contrast
Transformed into colorful potpourri
The poet is prism, refracting the truth
A mirror reflecting all around
With words of his age and dreams of his youth
The same man and, yet, with diff'rent sounds
