Destruction
By Rich Reith

My heart was already despairing my love,
by dreams evils invasion dashed.
Then you took out your knife,
and took out your whip,
And you slashed, and you lashed,
and you slashed.

We COULD have faced fate together!
And cried and screamed at life,
At the wonderful chance that circumstance
stole from a husband and wife.

But you'd rather wallow in bile,
fill the air with hurtful words galore.
As I recall, and recall, those words that destroy,
They destroy all you need, and then more.

So you hid yourself far away,
As you worked to destroy all we'd been.
Playing the game
and daring the flame,
Making sure that no one can win.
