Jilted
By Rich Reith

You run away, yet he isn't there,
He never was, he never cared.
You gave yourself, you gave your heart,
He'd take what he could, then depart.

You cannot lose what you never had,
You cannot buy what's not for sale,
You cannot grieve a ghost you knew
Who's heart wouldn't register on a scale

You are better by far than he who left,
Who used your heart like a child’s toy,
Who came to you with a shallow heart
and used solemn words as loves decoy.

So stand up tall, you really won.
You deserve to be understood.
Learned that you judge a relationship
only by whether it's fruit is good..
