To Return to
Where They Began
To Return to Where They Began
by Rich Reith
The thing that he has always known,
Which in her he never inspired -
It's not what we feel, or is easy -
In love, we do what's required...
She gave in to destructive feelings;
Fed with imaginings and fears.
Never working to rebuild their love,
Coldly watching as love disappeared.
Supporting the unsupportable
With falsehoods she needed to believe.
Working to destroy the vows they made.
knowing that to vows he would cleave.
Letting little things become burdens,
She didn't know the pivotal thing
Is understanding what truly matters,
And not making false images king.
Wasting her chance for eternal love
Not caring as she hurt her man
Yet he would wait till end of days
To return to where they began.
